My team has arrived and we picked up big Bertha, our RV... Bertha will be our home for the next 10 days! We have stocked her up and Meghan and Court have “organized” the shit out of her... Tomorrow I start biking at the ass crack of dawn and I head out on the first stretch of
I plan on biking 89.8 miles and running 20.6 miles. From Reykjavík to Vík. If you are in the area please DM us! We will be stopping at Seljalandsfoss and Skogarfoss in Vatnajökull National Park, we would love to meet ya!
In 8 days I have a goal to conquer 828.6 miles around the ENTIRE Ring Road of Iceland and to raise $50k. Im doing this to stand up against cancer, for my dear friend, Jessica, that we lost to cancer in March. My emotions are all over the place. My favorite people in the world are here and I can tell that we are all anxious. We had our last meeting this morning, we broke down the days... stretch by stretch. We have planned for recovery, nutrition, hydration, refueling, sleeping, and emergencies as best we can. It is becoming so real and we are all aware of how extreme this mission is going to be. We understand the risks but can’t predict the future. We have planned as best we can but we have no control over the unknown for the next 8 days.
This is the worst summer Iceland has seen for over 100 years. The wind is extreme and the rain is ridiculous. High 40’s if we are lucky but guess what... Rain or shine I am showing the fuck up and moving forward as best I can. I don’t care how fast or slow I am going as long as I am moving in the right direction... I say this all the time to people I coach. Now it’s my turn to practice what I preach.
Everyone is ready and aware how critical it is that my state of mind is right. We are staying super calm, letting the petty shit go and trying to eliminate as much stress as we can. We have decided to allow each of us to have ONE breakdown on this trip lol but one only!! You can track us on Strava. Please download the app and follow me “Hannah Eden” You will see my routes for every stretch over the 8 days.
I just want to go already!!
